Julieanne Kost’s Blog | Creating Custom Identity Plates in Lightroom Classic

In this video, you’ll learn how to create a custom nameplate to not only display in Lightroom Classic, but also when outputting and sharing your photos.

To customize the nameplate in Lightroom Classic using text or a graphic, choose:

  • (Mac) Lightroom Classic > Identity Plate Setup
  • (Win) Edit > Identity Plate Configuration

From the Nameplate drop-down menu, choose Custom.

  • To customize the text, click the “Use nameplate with stylized text” radio button, enter the desired text, and make any desired changes to the font, size, and color. Note: To make changes to only part of the text (for example, changing the color of the name in the example below), first select the text you want to apply, then make the changes.
  • To customize the graphic, choose “Use graphic identity plate”. Click “Locate File” to navigate to and select a graphic (such as your logo). After you’ve customized the dog tag the way you want, use the drop-down menu at the top of the dialog box to save it. Note: Saving the custom nameplate allows you to access it from the Book, Print, Slideshow, and Web output modules in Lightroom Classic.

When using a graphic as an identity plate to display at the top left of the Lightroom Classic app:

  • Mac: Use a graphic up to 41 pixels high (JPG, GIF, PNG, TIFF, PDF, or PSD).
  • Earn – use a graphic with a maximum height of 46 pixels (BMP, JPG, GIF, PNG or TIFF).

Note: Graphics that will be used in other modules such as slideshow, printing, and export will most likely require larger graphics..
